Eduardas Vilkas, a scholar and academic, is a leader of the strategy development team. He is a well-known figure in the Lithuanian society who has made a significant contribution in both economic and political arenas. Mr Vilkas is Director of the Institute of Economy at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.

Art as investment

Art is usually viewed as part of culture. However, what is the relation of art and business? Can art be a profitable investment? Figures may give a good answer. According to the Vilnius Association of Independent Art Galleries, the price of paintings was in the range of 50-250 US dollars in 1990, at the beginning period of art galleries' activities, meanwhile in 2006 they stood at as high as 1,500-10,000 Euros.
The presentation will cover history and strategies of investment in art, as well as the current situation in Lithuania and globally. What return on art investment can be expected? The speaker will compare art and other investment instruments, explain market mechanism and future prospects.

Jūratė Stulgytė advises on corporate and personal taxation, has participated in tax reviews, performed due diligence for international investors. Ms Stulgytė is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
